Stamp Duty - Budget 06

Hi,

I was told last night by my brother that he has heard there may be changes in stamp duty when the budget is announced in December. I'm in the process of purchasing a property that will attract stamp duty of €13,500 but if I felt there were going to be changes, I would probaby hold off. Can anyone throw some light on this?

Only the Minister for Finance I'm afraid. You'll have to wait until Budget day to find out what, if anything, happens with stamp duty.
 
Your assumption is that the Stamp Duty will fall or rise?

The usual rule is that if signed contracts are in place, that determines which side of the divide you will be on. If your bet is that they will RISE, then have the contracts in place. Tear them up and resign after if it FALLS. Ask your solicitor.
