stain removal - wool suit

Hi,
I walked under a ladder recently in Dublin and the man on the ladder accidentally spilled a small amount of the contents of his bucket on my suit and hair.

I got the suit dry cleaned but there's still a whitish residue visible on the lapel.

I guess this is a combination of the grime from the windows and the window cleaning agent itself.

Any ideas how I should try to remove this?

Thanks in advance,
Gearoid.

I would recommend not touching the stain yourself because as its a woolen suit you may well make the matter worse.

Did you point out the stain to the cleaners when you left the suit in for cleaning? This is usually the best route as they have special cleaning agents that they apply before cleaning the items. I have left items in and pointed the stain out to them and they were able to treat it appropriately. On one occasion the stain remained after they cleaned it so I returned it for recleaning free of charge and this solved the problem. IMHO your best bet would be to return to them and ask them if they can reclean as you are unhappy with the end result.
