I'll have to start by pleading ignorance of the course.
If it doesn't give you membership of the NUJ then it may not be worth doing as membership of this is essential afaik to make a career of journalism.
If it does give memnership of the NUJ you have to figure is it worth paying that price.
Best to talk to a few sports journos and get their opinions.
Maybe try ringing local paper and asking for sports dept, you might get lucky and get somebody that will give insight.
