Sports car buying

i am looking at buying a new car chiefly a lotus elise. I am finding it hard to find a insurance company that will quote for sports cars. Does any one know how insurance compares to other 1.8 vehicles?

Also another option i was looking at importing one from the Uk but would like to know what vrt would be due, but the vrt office is no help! Anyone paid vrt on a lotus before?

Try posting the same question at [broken link removed] - the forum is full of Lotus enthusiasts, to the extent they seem to know every Elise in the country. I'm sure you'll get plenty of tips there.
 
Try www.123.ie - they used to advertise for insuring sports cars. The product had a relatively large excess ( 5k I think) though.
 
what price is the lotus, what year and what model? Cant calculate vrt without this
It should be cheaper to import this than to buy it here

i'm 27 and the lotus cars i am looking at 111r + 111s are priced circa 12000 sterling for a 2002/3 models
