Splashbacks

I'm looking for an alternative to tiles...
Does anyone have any recommendations or advice re glass, stainless steel or any other options..
How are glass and steel splashbacks usually attached? - glue or screws?
Can you recommend suppliers and give me a rough idea of cost?
