My gf just rang me to tell me her speedometer dropped to 0 for about 10 seconds (she was doing 60 at the time) and then worked as normal back to 60. There was no drop in power or anything just the speedometer dropping to 0.
Any ideas what this could be?

Was there black ice or oil on the road?

Is this a regular or repeating phenomenon?

Definitely check with a garage specialising in her car.

It is mandatory IIRC to have aworking speedo in the car.

Not one that works when it feels like it and sometimes doesn't.

FWIW

ONQ?

It only happened this morning, no ice or oil.
1st time to happen also.

Will get it looked into

It happenson my Ford Mondeo - seems to be linked to filling the petrol tank up.

cheers for the replies.
Yes it is a ford focus 02 1.4 petrol.
Looks like i need to get it checked out.

You will need to replace the VSS,vehicle speed sensor cost about 35 euro, it is a diy job if your anyway used to tinkering with cars.It will cost about 150 otherwise in a garage. This is a common problem on mk1 ford focus
