Im just wondering if there is a place I can take a complaint about a letter posted to me apparently from Madrid and awarding me a share in a 5 million euro lottery - even though I have never played the lotto in spain and I havent been to madrid since 12 years.
Are there really people gullible enough to furnish Mr Rodriguez with details of their bank accounts?
How can they be caught?

Go to and enter "lottery" into their search form and you should get some info about lottery scams. Unfortunately, due to the bizarre design of the IFSRA website I can't link directly to the content in question. The best I can do is but the links may still not work properly.

Pass a copy of the letter on to your local Gardai and also your financial institution.

OF COURSE theres lots of naive people out there passing on their bank a/c, and even give money to these fraudsters, they actually operate remotely..the ltr coming from Spain, but the gang behind can be located in Holland or such. i heard story they set up a replica bank with fake bank operators, fake customers and the victim only realised it s a scam the next day he visiting the same place but theres nothing but a empty shop.
his 30K deposit evaporated in thin air!

I got one of those too, its so funny. Full of sentences like "This is only for non-Spanish indigenous citizen" and "Due to mixed up of names we urge you to keep this award confidential" (sic).

was your letter signed by Dr Martinez?

The letter I have contains the same words and signed by sr. jose miguel rodriguez. Lots of stamps and very important looking logos. The signature is photocopied, as might be expected.
' If the money is not claimed by 5/2 then it is returned to the Ministerio de economia y hacienda as unclaimed. Thats a nice surprise for the ministerio.

I have received two of these letters in the last couple of months. My luck must be on the up:rolleyes:
