Spain mortgage

Hello Everyone,

I hope I am posting in the right forum area.

I am looking for advice. My parents trough a friend in spain who runs an estate agents\letting agency bought two properties (flats). They used my name to buy them as both are too old to get a mortgage. (bit of a dodgy deal). It was done we two separate banks.
Two years ago as we all know the bottom fell out of the market in Spain. The flats could not be rented so on advice from a solicitor in Spain my parents where advised to default on the mortgages and arrange with the banks to hand the property's back. It was my parents investment even though my names are on the mortgages.
My father recently got a mail from one of the banks stating they have taken the property as payment and the matter is closed. The solicitor is telling my parents that he has no information about the second property. This has been on going for a year.

I want to get a written letter from the bank stating the matter is closed and not just take the email from the solicitor as proof. I am going to seek out another solicitor to find out about the other property.

What I want to know if anyone can answer this is if I do manage to get both letters from the banks stating they will not look any more money and the matter is closed will my credit rating be effected here if I look to buy a house in Ireland ? Is there a way to check my credit rating with out applying for a mortgage first.

Sorry for the long post I am worried sick about this.

Thanks

M
