Hi Folks,
Could anyone tell me the correct procedure for laying a new lawn.

Is this correct

1. Prepare the Ground (Flatten, rake and level etc)
2. Roll the Soil
3. Sown the lawn seed + fertiliser
4. Rake the soil to cover as many seeds as possible
5. Roll again

Is this correct, do i need to roll a second time?/

Thanks
B

One step missing...in the initial stage after you must firm the soil by using your feet to get rid of any air-pockets.

Thanks man, is that not rolling the soil with a garden roller

It's 3/4 of an acre

Your procedure seems pretty good to me. Make sure not to bury the seed too deep when raking in. I think the second rolling is the most important as it ensures good contact between the seeds and the soil by pushing seed against soil particles and this maximises the chance of a good take. Rolling can be by foot or roller but obviously with 3/4 acre....hmmm, how much time you got? Watering in helps also if the forecast is for dry weather.
