Sound-Proofing

Anyone have any idea how to go about getting a room soundproofed and approx how much it would cost?
We've just moved into a new semi-detached house, the walls are like paper and we want to get the bedroom wall soundproofed so we aren't kept awake by the neighbours.

Take a look at this previous thread. This has been covered a few times, so try the search facility.

If the problem is very bad, get a sound test carried out across the party wall. Then go to your building control authority in your local county council. Under the Building Control Act 1990 They have a duty to serve an enforcement notice on the builder to put things right without any expense being incurred by yourself.

Otherwise check out soundproofing threads here on AAM , too numerous to mention
