Sound poor on hdmi cable

Hi I recently got a blue ray player and hooked it up to tv via hdmi,but the sound is very low even when up to the last,any ideas????
 
Maybe pick up a cheap second HDMI lead in Argos or Zavvi and see if you have the same problem.
 
I find that the sound on HD channels is poor enough compared to the sound on normal channels (I have a Sky HD box with Samsung HE system)

The sound on the HD channels should be much better than standard definition channels. Much better.

I'd say you have a problem here CCOVICH
 
Make sure the audio settings on the blue ray player are set up properly the blue ray player will have its own audio settings they may not be set properly
 
I find that I have to switch up the volume on HD channels, but that the actual sound quality is better than SD on my HD box.
 
Yes, I should have clarified myself, I need to turn up the volume on the HD channels.

I can't say whether I notice any significant difference in quality.
