I bought the Sony TV four years ago and the screen has gone a bluey colour. A friend tells me the tube is gone and the TV cannot be repaired realistically. Any advice welcome before I dump the TV.

At the very least you should take it to a TV repair shop to get a professional opinion. If it costs too much to repair, then dump it and upgrade to a more modern set.
