Sony DAVS400 DVD & Surround Sound

I have a Sony DAVS400 dvd player & surround sound system. Last night I went to play a DVD and found that the only sound field available was headphones, even though there were no headphones plugged in.

This means the sound will not come out of my speakers and only through the headphones. Can ayone help?

I was on to the soy centre where I bought it. They gave me a number to call and the guy there seemed to know the problem. He told me where to drop it off but couldn't say how much they would charge for repair!

Such a rip-off. If it is a well known fault with the machine they should repair it for free!
