Pension ??
My son, aged 29 years, lives and working in the U.S. Green Card and All. He is in No Pension Plan there.
He has asked me to find out about joining a Pension here. He hopes to return some day. How do I go about this task ??

US Pensions.....

No point in taking out a pension policy here. Should investigate 401K policies in the US.

Pension

Some countries will allow foregin nationals to invest in pension plans in their own countries and, as far as I am aware, give them some sort of tax break. Chile, operates this system.

He should ask the Inland Revenue in the US about the posibility of doing this and as long as he has a PPS number he could access a PRSA here.

However I am .......

.... aware that if you do a pension in the US and come home there are tax angles which potentially make a 401K attractive to have.

I'm not an expert on this field but would definitely look into this area if I were contemplating same.

Re: U.S. Pension

A 401k is a US tax-deferred retirement savings vehicle - simmilar to the pension schemes we have here in Ireland.
