We'll be driving from Dublin to Skibbereen and would like to stop off somewhere for lunch after we've got past Cork city, onto the N71.

Anywhere you can recommend ? Something other than fast food ?

The Viaduct just when you turn on to the N71 and close to the Viaduct. You can't miss it.

I would second both of these places, good with children too.
Probably lean towards The Poachers Inn thought.

the viaduct is good.the sizzler steak sandwich is great value and if u have kids all the cordials are free saves a fortune on soft drinks.

I'm probably a bit late with my recommendation but, The Poacher's Inn, in Bandon, is a great place to eat. I call there a few times every month and I've never been disappointed. :)

If you're going deeper into West Cork, the appropriately named West Cork Hotel in Skibbereen is probably the best of them all. Lovely food and outstanding value. A great place to stay too.

Thanks for those replies.

Those other suggestions could work if we were going further south west than Skibbereen. The Viaduct seems to be, for us, at the right point to break the drive.
