Some unannounced changes in the AIB app?

I got error messages on my phone earlier today when I tried to open the AIB banking app.

It said "device not registered"

I was able to log on ok from my pc and make payments.

And notification of one of the payments was sent to my phone despite it being not registered.

I just checked again now and I had to register the device again. Simple enough - account number and password.

But it's irritating. When something like this doesn't work, I assume it's user error on my part. If they had notified me that there was some change coming, I would have been better prepared.

I also notice on the app that I have 20 unread messages. Effectively, all messages for the last three years are so are now marked as unread.

Strange. Did you talk to the bank?

My version of the app is 4.52.7 on iOS 15.5

Working solidly and predictably so far
 
No, it's working now, but it's different.

I have to key in my pin which I didn't have to do yesterday.
