Solo travel for women

After a recent break-up, my aunt who is in her early 50's is thinking about taking a holiday travelling alone. She says she'd like to get away but would prefer not to go with any of her married friends. She's not really sporty or in to the whole spa scene and is a bit short on ideas for a woman travelling alone that she'd be comfortable with.
Does anyone have any possible suggestions for suitable breaks, from word-of-mouth or personal experiences?

I have travelled on solo holidays with this travel company - www.justyou.co.uk

Not the cheapest of holiday companies (especially as you have to add on travel from Ireland), but very professionally organised and prices often include half-board and lots of excursions.

A relative recently went to Italy with the Travel Department and enjoyed it immensely. My relative was with a friend, however there were a few people on the same trip who were single travellers.

I've done several trips travelling solo.
Check out http://www.affordabletours.com/ for some ideas. There's a Thelma & Louise website too that specialise in women only trips (never tried them but they look ok)
Also http://www.explore.co.uk/
All of these sites have places to go that you can go solo but not be alone. The worst thing to do is go on a package holiday by yourself. Tried it once and I was the only solo person in the whole hotel! I actually enjoyed myself but the pitying looks I got from people made me feel strange.
