I have seen advertisements lately for "Solidworks for Makers" for $38 per year.

It looks like a cloud based subscription service.

Anyone here with any experience of it?
Does it have all the features of a full version of Solidworks?

I would be looking at it as more or less a beginner/ learner / hobbyist.

I'm familiar with the software. The version you are talking about is for people with 3D printers at home or relatively design projects. It will certainly do the job unless you need to do simulations, material analysis, failure analysis, complex assemblies etc.

I don't have a 3d printer at home. Worked at one stage in 2d with older cad packages, Cadkey from the early 1990's and Autocad 10 I think after that. And Intellicad later which was almost identical to Autocad. They all had a degree of 3d capability to them but I didn't really get into the 3d world with them.
It would be nice to get proficient with the Solidworks.
I did some more digging last night and it seems that the Solidworks for Makers runs on your local computer. So not really cloud based.
Looks like one would need relatively good hardware to run this version.
