Ubiquitous:- I'm not for a minute asking you to lie. I said if you ARE happy with the Solicitor you currently use and they are quoting a HIGHER price than someone else, tell them that you are getting a quote cheaper, as is the case, and they will more than likely do it for the same.
Stuart: I suppose "all-in" and a breakdown come to much the same thing. A breakdown just tells you what the Solicitors fee is, the VAT on that and all the other outlay such as Registering the property in the Land Registry, registering the Mortgage if it applies, Search fees etc. I would prefer to have it broken down that way that just to be given an overall figure. Some Solicitors would also offer a Will. But it definitely pays to shop around.
