Got a quote from my existing solicitor to move my mortgage from UB to NIB. The all in price she quoted was €970, of which NIB would pay €600, meaning the cost to me is €370.
However NIB also offer the option of using their agents legal service, which seems to involve a 10 day overlap between the money being sent by NIB, arriving at this agents account, and finally being sent on to UB in cheque format. This will cost about €300 in interest charges.
So at the end of that really long story what i'd like to know is whether or not it's possible to get a decent solicitor to do this switch for about €600 all in? I dont think it is, and will probably use NIB's service.
600 less VAT @ 21% less outlays ( searches c. 100, comms. fees. 25 and Land Registry 150) would leave a professional fee of c.270.00. Its not a lot and I would not work for that kind of money - not given the aggravation factor.
Like mf1 and also as a solicitor I would not be interested in doing the work for that money. It would really mean losing money based on time spent versusfee earned...very few if any solicitors would be interested.
