As my previous post highlighted my problem with a broker can somebody recommend a solitior who has experience with these matters in the Dublin area.

Its become quite confusing at this point so i would like to use the services of a solicitior with specific knowledge.

thanks

Hi flipper,
Perhaps it might be a better avenue to send a complaint to the financial ombudsman. Its free and straight forward. You can also have representation if you wish but naturally you will have to pay for this.

thanks Insider,

I've been in touch with the Financial Regulator and they do not offer any advice but instead suggest i make a formal complaint which isn't really suitable. The problem being that this may take months before it is even referred to the ombudsman.

I have spoken to a few solicitors and it appears that either they're bluffing me or just looking for business.

The situation has become quite complicated and i really need the advice of somebody skilled in these matters.

I'd imagine that solicitors who understand and specialise in financial problems are prob thin on the ground and expensive. I'd of thought that it may take some time by proceeding through the courts and additional costs. your best avenue may well be to get advice and then pursue it through the ombudsman. While I'm not a solicitor, If you wish to pm me the details I'd be happy to take a look.

The main solicitors that deal with this kind of law are normally the big firms, who will cost thousands. If a case is found to get to the courts will take an age High Court cases take a couple of years to get heard. The Ombudsman normally takes a number of months for which the complainant is not bound by its determination. Is yur case against an Irish based stock broker or foreign based. I mention this as the laws of the domicile country of the entity normally take precedent over your address.

As oppossed to court proceedings I need somebody to review what has happened according to the figures and information i have been furnished with.
I would simply like to get some advice in the first place.

The broker in question has been mentioned in many threads in the past in similiar situations with Irish investors and although they are not based here they do have a postal address in Dublin.

I think a consultation would be the best option.

Have you taken the matters to an Accountant or in fact a Forensic Accountant ??

Your shares seem to have been sold twice. it should be easy to get to the bottom of this. Did you give two instructions, that is phone twice or trade electronically twice or phone and then trade on the computer?

All tapes to dealers are recorded, so the tape recordings should be available. There is a nominated person in all firms to investigate issues such as this. have you tried this route?

Errors can happen all the time, traders and dealers are human as well.
