Hi - after a long duration of time we closed on a property a number of months ago. We are now in the process of selling same. solicitor has quoted 1500 + VAT + costs and are not willing to budge on this.
We had looked into changing solicitor but there appears to be some leg work involved in having a new solicitor undertake the loan which could potentially push things out.

What do others think - is this a reasonable quote ? I would have been delighted with 1000 etc or even 1250 would have seem reasonably ok but I think they are pushing to this price as they have us over a barrel a bit as we are now under pressure to get contracts sorted.

Has anyone moved solicitor - was it much hassle??

I would say that is reasonable, our solicitor charged us 2.5k in total.. Looking back in hinesight there are solicitors that do buy and sell for 999 + vat...

But our sale was handled very efficiently .. As for moving I wouldn't - this will really complicate your sale and for the sake of €250

thanks for the info. We got a quote of 750 + VAT + costs from a solicitor. We are selling this house to relatives and he is dealing with their purchase and mentioned that he could also do the sale. However now there's talk of undertaking the loan and possibly certifying the title. I'm concerned all that could stretch out.. And that he could end up inflating that 750 anyhow.. I might just stick with the solicitor that we have and bit the bullet to get stuff sorted out. thanks for the advice.
