I have a PAYE job, which of course pays PRSI Class A, that is great.

I'm completing a Revenue Form TR1 to register as a sole trader, for my weekend income.

Once I become a sole trader will I have to pay PRSI Class S?
(Class S is useless at the best of times for entitlements, like Jobseekers Benefit, and for me it would be amoney down the drain because I'm already paying Class A)

you will continue to pay class a for paye employment ans s for self employed

you can pay a and s at same time

Interesting...

If I have two PAYE jobs, both paying more than EUR 38 per week am I paying two PRSI Class A contributions per week?

What I'm getting at is the notion of an individual paying more than 1 PRSI contribution per week unique to sole traders

Vector,

No. You have one threshold for PAYE and one for self employed based on your weekly income from these sources.

On the payroll package, you would have to enter the details of the first employment to ensure you are paying the correct PRSI on the second.

The self employed PRSI is a totally seperate issue all together.
