Sole parent, returned to work made redundant can i claim unemployment benefit?

I am a single parent, i took unpaid leave from apr to sept 09 but was made redundant upon returning to work. I have just submitted a claim for sole parent allowance and will qualify, in the meantime i have received an initial swa payment. can i also sign on and claim unemployment benefit? i finished work 2 weeks ago. if i am eligible any idea of amount i may be entitled to? i have worked continuously for 10 years.
