Thats how I would read it.must think we have a battery
he claims we don't need a battery?
Yeah look you’re not going to run a heatpump for any meaningful period of time, but your average EV today has a 50kWh+ battery, which will run a typical fridge/freezer for 50 days. It would run a heating boiler and circulation pumps for much longer again. There is no need to know when the power is returning, just drive up the road to where there is power every few days and charge. An electric car battery in theory is a good solution but is only practicle during short outages and you need to know exactly when the power is returning
I remember seeing those small generators in Aldi about 15 years ago for 50 euros, was tempted to buy one but never did, never seen them again. Id say very difficult to get generators now even before the storm because so many used in Ukraine now due to that idiot Putin.I got a 700 watt generator about 20 years ago for 35 euro in B&Q.
I think that you need V2L in order to use an EV to do this?we have a Tesla but unfortunately you can't draw power from Tesla like you can with the likes of Kia
With two EVs and a heatpump we are suing 50-100kWh a day at the moment, our 14 solar panels are generating 3-4kWh per day. In the summer that is flipped and we generate far more than we consume, but of course storms and power outages rarely occur then.Would we see enough power generated from solar alone to power the house for several days?
