SoGSoS Act 1980: Warranty carry over to 2nd buyer if goods sold in wrnty period?

Under the Sale of Good Supply of Services Act 1980 a warranty carries over to a second buyer if goods sold in warranty period, doesn't it?

However looking at the manufacturers g'tee for washing machine in the instruction booklet, it says it is only valid for first owner. Is this legal?

A manufacturer's guarantee is not a seller's warranty. The Sale of Goods Act does not apply to it.

Thanks for that I wondered and was just curious really as my washing machine has gone west. i am going to seller though as SOGSOS applies

A seller's warranty is between the purchaser and the seller (retailer / shop / etc.) It does not apply to subsequent purchasers.

A manufacturer's guarantee may be transferrable to subsequent purchasers, but that is at the discretion of the manufacturer (e.g. the balance of a three year manufacturer's warranty on a car may transfer providing certain criteria regarding servicing and maintenance have been met by the original purchaser).

it does under sogsos 1980? Or is it the manufacturers warranty that extends. See
