Sofa going bally (?)

I bought a sofa and chair in march and its going bally. I noticed the main seat on the sofa had little white balls(its grey) on it but I put it down to cream cushions I had on it however, my chair is now going the same way and there is no decorative cushion on it.
I paid almost 3k for this, is only two of us so no kids jumping over it. The chair is only used when guests call so I'm disgusted that its happening so quickly. Do I have a case to go back to the shop?

I didn't know what you meant first by bally. Thought it was going to "ballysomeplace". I know the way you mean and I agree it looks awful. I think it would be more to do with the particular fabric you have chosen, as some materials seem prone to this. Have you asked the shop what they would recommend?

I think there are things you can get, I remember them being called "de-fuzzit" years ago, which was a gadget to remove the "bally" effect from jumpers, etc. Would rather be like shaving your couch. Somewhere like JML or places like that would do them, I would think.
