Sofa - delivery 10 weeks late!

Hi

We bought a very expensive sofa from a Dublin department Store, (nearly 5K) we ordered it just after christmas and we're still waiting, its 10 weeks late. This is bad enough but we constantly have to chase them for an update, when they do ring me back they have no news and promise to go off and chase it and ring me back they never do until I ring again, again they promise to get me news...still waiting. At this stage we just want our money back, we paid for it in full about 10 weeks ago as apparently it was going to be delivered the following week. We haven't been able to use our sitting room since we moved into our new house as we didn't have a couch. Anyone know where I stand on this??? I'd never buy anything from them again!!

Did you pay for it by credit card by any chance?

Ring your credit card company and explain the position.

You paid for a product with your credit card and have made every effort to get those goods. Clearly, the furniture company is in breach of the contract. You will probably have to put all the details in writing. Dates and times of calls should be stated if possible.

You should seek a chargeback from the credit card company.

If you do succeed in getting your money back, it might be worth your while to keep your eye on the shop you bought it from, as when they do take delivery of it, they might have to sell it off at a price cheaper than you paid, just to get shot of it.
