Social Welfare Sickness Benefit

Hi my mum has just had an operation and will be out of work for at least 4-6 weeks she was asking how to apply for sickness benefit. Does anyone know what is required? Eg. sick cert from doctor etc... how are payments made? Cheque or bank account? Thanks !

There is no such thing as "sickness benefit". Presumably you mean one of the other schemes here and about which there are details about qualification criteria, application processes etc.?

Your mother can apply for Illness Benefit by completing the application form attached to the certificate that her doctor will give her. She will then submit weekly certificates to SW adn she can opt for EFT or cheque payment.
