Hi, I am a lone parent of one getting lone parent payment and rent allowance. I am back at working 30 hours but get paid monthly. so I wont get my first wage until the end of January. I was told to bring my first payslip to social welfare when I get it to get means tested. does anyone know will they take money for my wages from when I started work or from when I handed in my payslip. I have been told all different from people. also anyone know how long Ill be waiting for Fis payment? Thanks in advance.
 
Your One Parent Family payment will be re-assessed from the date you started work. The sooner you give them your payslip, the sooner your claim will be adjusted. You will avoid overpayments by getting it sorted quickly.

You need to tell your SWA office (where you claim Rent Supplement) as well as the Local Office where your One Parent Family Payment is dealt with.
 
Thanks.. I rang the social welfare and they told me that they wont take money off me, only from the day I hand in my payslip not from the date I started work. Didn't think that sounded right tho.
 
anyone know how long Ill be waiting for fis?? and anyone know will my rent and one parent family payment be taken from the day I started work or day I hand in my payslip?????
