Hi all,

I am aware this is probably a no hoper, but its worth the chance to see peoples views. I was made redundant christmas week last year, and two weeks into the new year i went into the social welfare office with P45 and so on, because there was no completeion date of contract on the P45, they would not accept it, and i had to get work to re-issue a new one this took several weeks and with building the new house i was side tracked.
I was unemployed for 14 weeks when i started work with a new company, i had not signed on for any of this period, is there any way i can get the money owed to me for the period i was unemployed?

You could make a back-dated claim but it is highly unlikely to succeed given that you did attend the SW office but didn't follow up a claim. Also, how can you prove that you were looking for work in that poeriod? Have you letters from potential emplyers? Did you register with FAS? Why didn't yopu sign on at the time? All these will be relevant questions in any claim at this stage.

I would have letters from potential employers, i work in the constrution industry, so jobs were scarce at the time. The first interview i sat, i got the job. I was told i could not sign on until the P45 issue had been sorted.

Did you not sign on when the p45 issue was sorted and why not? How did yopu end up with a p45 with no 'date of leaving' on it in the first place? TBH, I can't see them accepting a back-dated claim on the basis that you were 'side-tracked' for 14 weeks. But go and argue your case if you want to.

The P45 issue only got sorted when i comenced new employment, so i was back working and could not sign on. The last company just never filled out the box which says completeion of contract.
