The above heading is from an article by David Cochrane in the IT
http://www.irishtimes.com/news/poli...missed-opportunity-for-main-parties-1.2552901

This seems to be the main emphasis
"The rise of social media in [broken link removed] has been staggering. Ipsos MRBI, which has been tracking the growth of the networks, last month reported 63 per cent of the adult population (or 2.5 million people) actively using [broken link removed], with three quarters of them using it daily. Twitter’s growth has been on the rise too, with 31 per cent of the population actively using the network."
and
"A one-way broadcast approach by main political parties to the campaign seemed to betray the key point of the social media networks, to facilitate engagement between their users. Both Facebook and [broken link removed], who proactively worked during the campaign to promote best-in-class use of social media, repeatedly highlighted how more authentic and personal communications resulted in better engagement by voters. However, the use of social media, as part of the main parties’ campaign plans, broadly reflected the broadcast nature of political campaigns in a way that was unlikely to engage the voters directly."

My emphasis

So we are now being manipulated by FB and T: we are certainly the product!

authentic lies and broken personal promises...!
