Snails/worms on footpath around house

Last night had a significant amount of snails/worms on the footpath between back of house of lawn, it was raining heavily. Is this normal?? Should i be worried? There was a lot of them
 
They're comin to get you!
Rain slugs and smooth surfaces seem a normal combination to me. You could pour salt on them or buy a duck
 
The worms come out because the soil gets waterlogged, ad the air pockets they need to breather are filled with water. The snails and slugs appear because of the nice, moist conditions which they can run around in happily.

Sounds like they could be vamp-slugs
