smyths toystore sale worth waiting for?

Im thinking of getting my hubby a free standing basketball stand, it's a good regulation size portable one and costs €350. It's something he plans on getting at some stage himself and I'm wondering is it worth waiting for the sale or should I just get it for Christmas? Don't want to wait for €20 off but if it's slashed half price or something I'd be miffed. We live in an apartment so it would stay at his parents house till we move sometime next year, hence the practical take.

I may be wring, but I dont think Smyths toy sales are full of bargains.
I think in the last few years, they shifted the end of the Christmas stock, by slashing the prices, but no big discounts off standard stock.
