Smashed windscreen — again!

I travel the N81 everyday which is a notoriously dangerous road, mainly due to large amounts of quarry trucks moving sand/gravel etc from the quarry pits into and around Dublin.
The road is in a very poor state of repair (in many places) and has all sorts of debri from these trucks scattered along its route, hence my problem, i have now had the fourth new windscreen fitted to my car in the last 18 months and iam getting a bit peeved having to fork out €300 a pop for new glass.
Is there any way i could claim compensation and who would i claim against? The vehicles which throw up the rocks etc ( usually trucks going in the opposite direction funnily enough!so no hope of a reg/company no.) or the local council who should be looking after the road or the NRA ? or maybe i should buy an ex garde van with the riot mesh covering the windscreen :) .

Any ideas

I have but they only load the policy when its renewal time,my beef is that somebody somewhere is not doing there job properly, whether it is the quarry owners, hauliers or the county council, causing me and many other vehicle owners, needless, expensive damage to our vehicles.

Get on to your solicitor - i'm sure you could claim against the county council, afterall it's not the first time it's happened.

Re: Smashed windscreen — again!

Most motor policies cover windscreens without it being a ncb killer. Shop around.

Re: Smashed windscreen — again!

Springer not to make light of an annoying situation, but maybe try and leave a bit more space from the car in front.

Is the screen chipped or badly dmaged.
There are companies that can do repairs on small chips.

Other than that bring a camera and take pictures the next time and try the council.

Frank, oddly enough its usually rocks from trucks travelling in the opposite direction, work that one out !!,i dont bother to get the small chips fixed because i know eventually i will get another meteor hit me and the whole screen will need changing!
Thanks for all the replies, iam going to send a letter to the council and take it from there, will let you know how i get on !!!
