I am trying to add broadband to an existing Smart telecom customers phone line and Smart Telecom are saying that the phone number will have to be changed (at least for the moment), anyone know why this is?
And if the number is changed, will the old number still work?
I saw mention of this somewhere in this forum before, but I can't find it now, apologies for the repetition!!

It wont work at all if the customer pays line rental to Smart at present.

Believe it or not they must go back to Eircom for line rental before they can get Broadband from Smart and that will mean getting a new number too .

they are having trouble accessing eircoms network, i remember a few months ago an article in all the papers were smart were saying that eircom were deliberately hampering them.

I had to move from NTL's phone network back to eircom and had to change my number I applied to smart however i dont fancy changing it again

Thanks everyone!
Is there any point in complaining to Comreg (that is the right organisation isnt it??)

It is the right organisation, yes.

Not immediately. They'll tell you that you have to go through the Smart customer complaints process first.

And only when that fails, will Comreg get involved.
