Bear with me, currently driving EV, installed 3.44kwp solar panel system last year. I have hybrid inverter but no battery. I’m currently with Flogas on the unit rate of .2344. I’m reluctant to move to a smart tariff but wondering should I move to time of use tariff or day night meter?

Do I need a different smart meter in order to get these prices. I’m currently on on meter type
MCC01

I was charging the car during the summer on excess solar but now for next 6 months or so I guess it’s just from the grid. So my thinking is to move charging of car to cheaper rate at 11pm, dishwasher and maybe washing machine .
I have used energy pal to get updates plans but this is based on past usage

You need a smart meter and to be on a smart tariff (MCC12 or MCC16) to avail of time of day charging structures such as you mention. The only exception would be if you were eligible to opt for a day/night "Nightsaver" configuration (MCC02) and tariff.

This site might clarify some of this for you?
Energypal is a brilliant site but you really need some actual or accurately estimated usage data to get the most out of it.

With an EV moving to a time of use might make a lot of sense for you if you are doing reasonable mileage. You could move all your charging to overnight and make full use of ~7c per unit for 3 hours on an EV plan, especially given that you can sell excess solar for more than double that.

As above, look at your consumption patterns on EnergyPal and work out what it would look like if you moved all charging to overnight,

I too have a 3.5KWp Solar system and an EV. I'm with Energia (for the 4 hour 7c rate).
This year, for the entire year my electricity bill was 35 euro. Now of course the 3 government credits (3x150) played a big part there.
But charging at 7c and selling all my solar at 20c also made it super cheap.

May I ask , do you have a battery as part of your set up?
