Smart Telecom are advertising locally ( may/june connection) for broadband customers. €35 per month including vat and are advertising a 'true' broadband of 2mb. This is as far as I can make out 4 times faster than Eircom. Is there a catch to this as it appears to be too good to be true. they are also advertising that their first 100,000 customers will received free line rental FOREVER!
Its tied in with this local loop unbundling thingy which the government or comreg keeps going on about , which I gather means that they can enter the exchange and move your line over to their service. What if you have a problem with the line at a future date, will they be 'on call' to repair faults especially ones not actually in the exchange or at your premises? ie if a lines gets damaged in a storm or a contractor cuts it by mistake?
