Hi all,

I would appreciate any advice on this. We got a company to install a lean-to or pergola (if you want to be fancy) at the side of our house. They were more expensive than everyone else but came with a very good reputation. We have had an issue since day one with it leaking all along where it connects to the house. They have come out twice to try to fix it both times when I wasn't there although I requested a call to discuss it beforehand which I never received. Last time I spoke with them was back in March when they said they would be out once the weather is dry but now they are ignoring all calls and texts. Amazingly when I used my father's phone to call them they called back 30 mins later but hung up when they knew who it was.

Is this something for the small claims procedure? And I paid in cash so would this be an issue?

Yes, the small claims court is an option here so long as the amount being claimed is within the limits.

Payment in cash is not a problem so long as you got a receipt for payment.

Thanks for replying, well that counts that out so as I don't have a receipt for payment, rookie mistake.

I should have been clearer, but that alone should not preclude a claim given the physical evidence of the work carried out and any communications / contract that were agreed in advance.
