Hi there

Just got a skype compatible phone.

Is there any way of using this to dial Irish mobiles and landlines

I understand I may have to pay for some kind of number/service I can dial to gain access to these numbers as normally blocked out

Have a large bill and recently lost job so trying to cut bill

Thanks
Nollaig

If you are dialing a mobile handset with sykpe - you should be ok.

But landlianes - can you get a Irish landline skype number?

I also have a 3 phone with Skype. I also raised this question. Sorry to tell you but you cannot make any calls to Irish mobiles\landlines from skype on the 3 phone.

If you have a wireless enabled mobile phone you could get a SIP client on your device and use a service like blueface.ie (no affiliation) - I use it at home with my IP phone (cable connected to broadband modem) and use the PAYG option. I also use the SIP client on my wireless Nokia E51. Quality is great, no complaints and you can ring anywhere in the world. http://www.blueface.ie/rates/rates.aspx

Three say you can but they require €20 a month just for the privilage which kind of defeats the purpose. Cant get round it without paying.
