skype no sound when I speak

Hi I have been using skype on my laptop using windows xp but now when I recieve a call I can hear the caller but they cannot hear me. I have checked that the microphone is not on mute and I also did a sound test call and it was not working. I did try my micro phone on an other computer and it is working so any ideas on what else could be the problem.

I always found if I had issues with SKYPE that skype themselves have support forum's and found them very helpful.

If you're sure that your microphone is working go to this link & choose whatever style XP you are using & follow all the steps to make sure both your laptop & your Skype settings are correct http://www.skype.com/help/guides/soundsetup.html

I had a similar problem with a new laptop, turns out it had a built in mic and an external jack type as seperate mics in the drop down list in Skype's options, just selected the right one, presto. I've also seen it pull in a built in mic on a webcam that was muted.
