sky remote batteries

Just changed the batteries in my Sky remote control. However, still getting a low battery symbol on the banner screen. Have taken out the new batteries and put other brand new ones in and still no change. Do I need to do something else along with putting new batteries in? Looked through booklet thing but only tells you how to replace them.

Don't trust the meter. Just do what everyone else does and wait till you have to stand a foot away from the box to get it to respond before changing batteries.
