Sky mobile - €15 a month for life

Anyone tried moving to sky?

Looks like good value €15 a month for life…. I mean what’s not to like?

I took their €10 a month plan - unlimited calls and texts and up to 10 GB of data, which I reckon is sufficient for my use. 5G is included and it uses the Vodafone network and their coverage is quite good around here.
It doesn't have the "for life" tag though.

I wouldn't place much stock in "for life" price offers and would treat them like "unlimited" offers which, often, are not, and ComReg and the ASAI are perfectly happy to allow such false advertising.

Coverage and data roaming are my main questions. I need something reliable in terms of coverage.

An post are cheaper per month but different offer so not comparable

48 again is slightly different

Also how smooth was the transition?

Unlimited is usually caveated by fair usage but this isn’t

And for life is a limited offer, I suspect only a few customers.

You can be sure that there's some get out clause.
E.g.:
For Life Plans: For Life pricing applies for as long as you stay a Sky Mobile customer on the applicable plan. The Price for Life offer is only available for a limited time as part of the Sky Mobile launch.
I bet that they have a clause somewhere that they can unilaterally withdraw plans as they see fit.

Inevitable that it’ll vanish at some point I imagine but it’s cheaper than my current plan with 3. I use a lot of data and roaming and can’t have a break in service. Other than that I’m not fussed. I don’t want a new phone.

Interesting about 48. I’d stayed away from them as roaming is a key feature for me. Heard about the issues.

I also need a smooth transition so that’s a concern.

They've fixed that, been away twice and no issues roaming
Lots of people on the Community Forum still have problems with it. It's very hit and miss even with a replacement SIM. And there was a seemingly general roaming outage last week affecting most or all users.
I'm a long time 48 user and very happy with it and didn't have any problems the few times that I was roaming years ago, but lots of people do have problems and they do seem a bit Heath Robinson at times. Especially with roaming, trying to deal with support, and payment issues...

I had to ring them to complete the number porting. This does not seem to be universal and perhaps I made an error in my online application. Smooth otherwise.

Roaming has nor arisen for me so can't comment directly but some people are reporting glitches.

You can check your local coverage using the Comreg coverage map. Mine is good - comparable to Vodafone for download, as I would expect being the same network, but maybe a bit slower for upload. No problem for me but I am not a big user. I generally rely on home broadband.

It's a 12 month contract. Gomo is the same price but it's a 30 day contract.
