I have Sky digital but last week we lost the sound from most of the UKTV channels (UKTV Gold, Food etc), all the other channels are perfect with sound. Has anybody here encountered this problem before? I rang Sky but they weren't great help. Just wondering before I request an engineer to come out.
Thanks...

Perhaps this MIGHT help. Leave the box on overnight. It seems that Sky (or at least they used to) send down updates overnight and if so it might tweak the sound issue for you.

Updates aren't pushed every night, but you can force one.

Check your signal strength & quality in case your dish moved a wee bit in the winds. Sound is often the first to go when quality drops.
Press services, then no.4 then no. 6. If the bars are less than halfway along, that may be your problem.

Thanks for replies - my signal is 80% and quality is 90%. I dont have a phone line plugged into the box, so cant get updates then I believe - no phone cable nearby.

Sound is sent separate to picture's so it is more then likely your signal.Even if you do have a very strong singal dish still mite need to be realined,

OK if you want to update the software on your Digibox,

This is what you do.

1,Remove power lead from back of the the box.

2,Press and hold down the backup button on the the box its self.

3,While holding down the back up button plug back in the power lead on the back of the digibox while still holding down the back up button.

4,Now about 20 secs in all the lights will light up on the front of the box and should get a message on screen to say the box is now downloading the latest software update.

Some boxes mite not give a message on screen but if all the lights are light up on the front of the box then it is downloading.

5,Now u can let go of the back up button on the digibox.

It will contuine to download,

New software mite help your sound problem,

It also mite speed up your EPG,add new menus and services.!!

**Warning do not interrupt your box when it's downloading new software!!

Hi, Thanks all for the good suggestions. Sorted in the end with the simple, old school way of unplugging box & switching back on! Should have known to do that in the first place
