Sky Box does not recognise viewing card

Hi, tried to tune into the Ireland Wales match this evening and the following message appeared 'This is the wrong card for this Set Top Box. Insert the correct Sky viewing card' It then gave a British telephone number to ring for assistance.

I have tried unplugging the box and removing and inserting the card to no avail. This is an old style Grundig box, not a sky + box.

Has anybody experienced this problem before and if so how was it solved? I'm not anxious to make an extended trunk call to the UK for advice if it can be avoided.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Just ring sky on their 0818 719819 number - lo-call from irish landlines.

We had this problem when we were out of the house for a few months - a simple call to the lo-call number sorted it within a minute. Apparently it happens when the box has not been turned on in a while.

Thanks for the responses. Didn't realise it was a lo-call number. Will give them a ring so.
