Sky and Broken Aerial Socket

Hello All,

I just noticed that the aerial socket at the back of my new TV is broken. I am pretty sure that I didn't do it. Thinking back, a few weeks ago, Sky man came in and installed the dish, box and plugged it in to the TV. Is it possible that he could have done it?
Did anybody else out there find a broken aerial socket after a Sky installation?

Yes, same thing happened to us a few years ago, the ariel socket cover won't screw back onto the wall downstairs and upstairs, the sky guy pulled the centre (the ariel connection) out of the socket.

They are cheap to replace and easy to fix. When I moved into my rental place last year I noticed that the TV socket was broken and had been unscrewed to allow the satellite cable to be been pulled through and out the side of it. It looked unsightly so I got a new satellite cable socket from Woodies for a couple of quid, cut the cable and rewired it into the socket which I then screwed into the wall bracket of the broket aerial socket. It looked much neater then. I'm no electrician so if I could do it I think anyone could.

Are the previous two posters referring to broken cable boxes (e.g. on the wall, window ledge etc.) while the original poster is saying that the coax RF/aerial input on the actual TV is broken? The latter may need the TV to be opened up and the connector reseated/re-soldered etc. If you are going to attempt this yourself then make sure you know what you're doing and isolate the TV from the mains and leave it off for a few hours first!

Err... yeah I was talking about the TV wall socket. If it were the TV socket on the actual box I would take it to a TV repairman!

Yes, it was actually the coax RF/aerial input on the actual TV that is broken.
