"Skirting" tile?

Hello,

This weekend I intend finishing off my downstairs bathroom tiling by putting "skirting" tiles on the walls where the normal wooden skirting would go.

I was wondering if anyone has ever laid these tiles, in particular should I allow for a grout space between the bottom of the skirting tile and the floor or just place them on top of the floor tiles with no spacing?

Thank you,

Don't know. Check in public toilets/restaurant how it's done there.

You'll want to seal it somehow to stop water from penetrating and damaging the wall behind, so either grout it or use caulk.

Definitely use a standard spacer to create a grout line, remove the spacers when adhesive has set and grout as normal. If the wall is a timber framed stud wall (subject to shrinkage) in a wet environment (like bathroom/ shower room etc) I would seal OVER the grout as well, with a clear silicone for a belt and braces job- but you'd need to allow a cement based grout at least a few days before caulking with a silicone product.
