Well Bansko is a contruction site so I would be heading to Pamporovo where I heard is great for skiing.

I'd be interested in hearing your feedback when you're back!

We just got back and had a great time , we got snow Monday and it was bitter cold the next two days .
Our instructor was great . He had loads of patience and needed it with all beginners .
the food was not good at the hotel we stayed( Murgavets )like hospital food, it really did not make any difference as the food and drink was so cheap in all of the local restaurants .
Our most expensive meal and the best one ( for 4 people) was 140 lev starter barbacue and beer and wine ( 16 euro pp)in the chervemeto the next place up the hill after the chinese (red sun)
A round of drinks for 8 popole was 28 lev (14 euro) couple of beers , couple of bacardi breeses ,corona , heiniken, and vodka and coke.
In the White Hart (across from Murgavets)2 t-bone steaks ,1 salmon ,1 bacon & cheese snanwich 2 cokes and a bottle of redwine 57 lev

its important to remember the locals like there food served warm as they believe it is better for their teeth and for digestion
The BBQ place at the Murgavets is very good.
The whithouse near the hotel Pamporovo is also good and has a great wine list. Cosmos bar top floor of Murgavets great for ice creams/ coffee/ hot choc........chocolate pancakes were a big hit
The Pizza place located in the Perelik is also good.
ALso some hotels have spas if you want to pamper yourself Very Happy
Don't come back without trying the Chinese retaurant Red Sun food was not hot as usual but it was tasty
Try KUMALISA... It is a nice drink prepared with Mastika, Baileys and Hot Chocolate...
Casinos if you are intrested downstairs in the Morgavets, no poker, mainly just Roulette and one arm bandits.
No code at all, jeans and t shirt if you want to.
there is also a casino in pamporovo hotel
both are small and not much to gamble on
BJ's night club in the Perelik seems to be the most lively and one of there happy hours was 230am to 330am !!!!!!!
the White Hart had a good live band and ok food
ask any questions you have just ask

We're heading to Pamporovo towards the end of the month and staying in the Mourgavets too, was the food bad, plain? What would a typical menu have been?
Thanks

breakfast was OK in the hotel ,typical eastern european stuff coffee from a machine scrambled eggs some kind of sausage ,cheese and cold meats , OJ like miwaddi , deserts from the previous night .
i brought my own coffee and used it all week , if you are a tea drinker a few teabags might be a worthwhile thing to pack .The water could also have made a difference as it has a high mineral content , there are a number of mineral spas further down the mountain

Dinner was plain, palitable, lookwarm in the hotel , we were on half board and went once . It was a guessing game with some of the stuff . It was like hospital/canteen food only not as hot , there is a microwave there if you like your dinner hotter . Red wine to the amazement of one of our group was either dry or medium and in some places served cold but for the most part OK

Eating out was so cheap that we went a new place almost every night 17 lev (8.5 euro) for a T-bone steak (around 10 oz) remember what that is?,chips etc in the White Hart across the road from the Murgavets .
Our best dinner was the Bulgarian feast (spit roasted pork and lamb), get details form the travle co rep's the venue changes . Next was the White Hart .

Drink was really cheap .

The hotel was good ,warm room, hot shower / bath , great water pressure to ease the aches and pains after a long day on the slopes or a longer night
at the bar .We did not make it to closing time any night .

We would have no problem going back again by the way .
