Hi,

Can anyone tell me what they used to fence off there site boundary and cost per metre.

I got quoted 23 euro's (including vat) a meter for high galvanised chainlink on concrete posts...is this good value?..there is also a light chainlink offer for 20 euros a metre...oh based in cork

I want to see what options i have beside the above as i have over 200 metres to fence off.

Also If my neighbour is obliged to provide the above by planning as he plans to have horses, what percent should i be liable to pay as it devides our sites down the middle...he expects me to pay half!!!!

Cheers

We used a Stock fence, it was a 120 metre run as it was only required for 1 side and back, ditches on other sides.
It cost €700 3 years ago. The local farmer recommended a Fence Contractor.

We have since planted hedgerow along the fence to obscure it

Splitting the cost 50:50 seems fair enough to me.

A single strand of wire properly erected would be good enough to keep the horses at bay.

A word of warning though, the horses will damage the chainlink fence by rubbing it and reaching over it. You need to attach an electric fence, or something like that to the top of the poles to keep them back. Alternatively you could get the neighbour to erect a second fence at his side to keep the horses back from the main fence.
