Sinn Fein plan to censor RTE

Is anyone else worried about the Shinner plan to have a political board overseeing RTE's political content?
It's being done on the absolutely laughable pretext that RTE weren't anti-Israeli enough since the Israel-Gaza war started but that's just a pretext to get the body in place. Given their penchant for trying to silence journalists and media criticism it's a bit Trumpian.

So RTE gave reasonably balanced reporting on the Israel / Gaza situation, but because it was not in keeping with sf single sided biased policy, sf are going to introduce a political board to make sure that RTE only provide a sf view on all political matters.

Isn't this what Putin does in Russia?

I thought RTE's coverage was very biased against Israel so the Shinners must really want to control the narrative.

I hadn’t observed any major bias to Israel. In fact i image they are less sympathetic than most broadcasters in Europe.

Definitely seems like an excuse. A move to go from a public broadcaster to a state broadcaster.

What about other broadcasters who receive a small amount of the licence fee. Do SF want to approve their content too?

Sinn Fein want RTE to give out more about indiscrimate bombing and killing of innocent civilians?? Puzzling to say the least given their history. .

I think that the Shinners think RTE are not biased enough in favour of the guys who started this round of murder and mayhem. Anyway, it's just an excuse to establish a way of censoring RTE. They pick a popular, populist and emotive topic as a Trojan Horse and then they have established a mechanism of control.

And they also saying ukraine should not be supplied with anymore weapons to defend itself, so its buying into the putin propaganda . The Ukrainian embassy complaining about it.
In an alternative scenario if Britain trying to retake this state I'm sure sinn fein would have a similar policy, do not supply irish state with arms but pursue a peaceful policy and capitulate to British demands
